Vallejo Metal Color
High-density metallic acrylics formulated for smooth NMF (natural metal finish) airbrushing. The finest metallic particle size in the Vallejo range — designed to replicate polished, brushed, and weathered metal surfaces on aircraft, automotive, and armour subjects.
| SKU | Colour | Subject | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| VLJ77707 | Aluminium | Aircraft · Automotive | Standard aluminium NMF finish. Suitable for P-51D Mustang (unpainted ETO), P-47D (NMF 56th FG), B-29 Superfortress (509th CG, “Enola Gay”), Douglas DC-3, and any polished aluminium aircraft. Also automotive wheel rims and bodywork. |
| VLJ77704 | Jet Exhaust | Aircraft | Dark metallic for jet exhaust staining and burnt titanium effects. Applied around jet pipe exits on F-86, MiG-15, F-100, and any early jet aircraft where heat discolouration is visible. Also suitable for rocket motor nozzle burn effects. |
| VLJ77703 | Dark Aluminum | Aircraft · Automotive | Slightly darker aluminium for shadow areas on NMF aircraft. Used as the base coat under polished Aluminium to create panel variation and realistic metal colour differentiation across different skin sections. |
| VLJ77706 | Burnt Iron | Armour · Universal | Dark burnt iron for heavily used gun barrels, exhaust manifolds, and any metal surface showing extreme heat discolouration. Also suitable as a base for heavily weathered track links on WWII and modern armour subjects. |
| VLJ77724 | Steel | Universal | Standard steel metallic for gun barrels, engine components, and worn metal surfaces across all scales. Darker and less reflective than aluminium — use for steel rather than aluminium surfaces. |
| VLJ77725 | Stainless Steel | Automotive · Universal | Stainless steel metallic for modern vehicle exhaust systems, automotive trim, and any polished steel surface requiring a cooler and more blue-grey metallic than standard steel. |
| VLJ77710 | Chrome | Automotive · Aircraft | Highest-reflectivity chrome for polished propeller spinners, automotive racing wheel rims, and mirror-finish metallic surfaces. The most reflective Metal Color. |
| VLJ77712 | Gold | Universal | Metallic gold for aircraft trophies, unit badges, and decorative gold accents on figure models and any subject requiring a metallic gold finish. |
| VLJ77711 | Pale Burnt Metal | Aircraft | Pale titanium heat tone for jet exhaust forward burn area. Represents the light gold-to-titanium heat discolouration gradient on jet exhaust pipes forward of the darkest burn area. |
| VLJ77702 | Magnesium | Aircraft | Magnesium alloy tone for aircraft panel sections made from magnesium alloy rather than aluminium. Notable on some WWII German aircraft (Bf 109G firewall), and some US experimental aircraft. Lighter and slightly different tone from standard aluminium. |
| VLJ77701 | Duraluminium | Aircraft | Duraluminium NMF finish for aircraft with a slightly warmer and less bright aluminium appearance. Suitable for pre-WWII and early WWII aircraft where factory NMF panels appear less polished and more dull compared to later production. |
| VLJ77708 | Exhaust Manifold | Aircraft · Automotive | Medium heat-stained metallic for piston engine exhaust manifolds and stacks on any WWII aircraft or automotive subject. Represents the blue-gold heat toning of steel exhaust systems under operational temperatures. |
| VLJ77714 | Copper | Universal | Metallic copper for period fittings, steam locomotive details, naval gun breech fittings, and warm metallic highlights across all modelling subjects. |
| VLJ77721 | Gun Metal | Universal | Dark metallic for gun barrels, bolter casings on miniatures, and any dark iron/steel surface requiring a dark metallic finish without the high-gloss of chrome or silver. |
Vallejo True Metallic Metal (TMM)
True Metallic Metal is Vallejo's dedicated miniature metallic system using real metal particles in an acrylic medium, producing genuine metallic reflectivity rather than a metallic-looking pigment. Each colour family is built around a themed metallic — silver, gold, copper, or a coloured metallic — with four roles: Base (mid-tone starting coat), Shade (darker recess tone), Light (highlight), and Airbrush (pre-thinned for base coating). Apply Base first, wash recesses with Shade, and build up to Light on raised edges. All bottles are 18ml.
