US Navy Gloss Sea Blue FS 15042 — tricolor scheme top surface 1944–1945. Grumman F6F-3/5 Hellcat (VF-9, VF-15, VF-83 aboard Essex-class carriers), Vought F4U-1D/4 Corsair (VMF-214 Black Sheep, VMF-323), Grumman TBF-1C Avenger, Curtiss SB2C-4 Helldiver. The darkest element of the Non-Specular Sea Blue / Intermediate Blue / Insignia White Tri-Color scheme adopted from late 1943.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
