Vallejo Model Air — USAF Light Grey

Subject: Aircraft

USAF Light Grey (approx. FS 36473 / FS 36622 range) — light underside and overall aircraft grey used in post-WWII and early jet age schemes, approx. 1950s–present (varies by platform). Applied to: F-86 Sabre, F-100 Super Sabre (early), F-102 Delta Dagger, F-106 Delta Dart, early F-4 Phantom II (pre-SEA camo), T-33 Shooting Star, C-130 Hercules (early schemes), KC-135 Stratotanker. Transitioned into modern low-visibility grey schemes on later aircraft. Used during Cold War air defense era and early Vietnam deployments.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
