Description
IFLIF747SPUA1019 - InFlight200 1/200 United Airlines Boeing 747SP N141UA
The Boeing 747SP (Special Performance) was a shortened version of the 747, built for ultra-long-range routes. It was 14 m shorter than the standard 747 and had a taller tail and simplified flaps, which let it fly nonstop on routes that no other airliner of the late 1970s could manage. Only 45 were built. United Airlines got its 747SPs in 1986 when it bought Pan Am’s Pacific Division, and with them a network of routes across the Pacific to Asia and Australia. United flew them until the mid-1990s. This InFlight200 replica depicts N141UA, a former Pan Am aircraft, in United’s classic “Saul Bass” livery with the red, orange and blue “tulip” tail logo.
