Warhammer Colour Shade (Citadel Shade)

Warhammer Colour Shade paints, formerly Citadel Shade, are Games Workshop's thin, flowing washes. Brushed over a basecoat, they settle into recesses and around raised detail, adding instant depth, shadow and definition to your miniatures.

Shades are the middle step of the classic Warhammer method: basecoat with a Base paint, apply a Shade over the whole area or into the recesses, then highlight with Layer paints. They also work well for tinting, weathering and darkening metallics. Each comes in an 18ml pot with its familiar Citadel colour name.
