The BMW M635CSi debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1983 and put BMW Motorsport’s touch on the elegant E24 6 Series coupe. Under the long hood sat the M88 3.5-litre twin-cam, 24-valve straight-six, a close relative of the engine developed for the mid-engined M1 supercar. It produced 286 hp and gave the coupe a top speed of about 250 km/h. Uprated suspension, bigger brakes, a front air dam and a subtle rear spoiler completed the package. In North America it was sold as the M6. With its shark-nose styling and racing-bred engine, the M635CSi became one of the great grand tourers of the 1980s. This vintage Tamiya kit builds the M635CSi in silver with the “M-DW 3805” Munich plates.
