The Ferrari F40 was built as a road car, but it was a natural for racing. In the early 1990s Ferrari’s partner Michelotto prepared a small number of F40 Competizione cars for GT racing. They were about 100 kg lighter than the road car, with race-spec suspension and brakes, and their twin-turbo V8 was tuned to around 550 hp. In 1993 the #7 Monte Shell F40 Competizione entered the Italian Supercar GT Championship. It won 8 of the 10 races and took the series title. This Tamiya kit captures the championship car in its white, red and yellow Monte Shell livery, and the rear cowl opens after assembly so you can display the detailed V8.
