The Ferrari Testarossa was unveiled at the 1984 Paris Motor Show and became one of the defining supercars of the 1980s. Pininfarina styled it, and its signature side strakes fed air to the radiators mounted beside the engine. Behind the cockpit sat a 4.9-litre flat-12 with four valves per cylinder. The engine is what gave the car its name: “Testarossa”, or “red head”, came from its red-painted cam covers, a nod to the 1950s 250 Testa Rossa racer. It had a top speed of more than 290 km/h, and its appearances in Miami Vice made it a poster car for a generation. This Tamiya kit builds a full-detail Testarossa with a complete flat-12 engine under a movable engine hood.
