The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was the US Navy's last purpose-built dive bomber, replacing the Dauntless aboard the fleet carriers from late 1943. A difficult aircraft that crews nicknamed "the Beast," it nonetheless delivered - Helldivers sank more Japanese shipping than any other US carrier aircraft and helped send both Musashi and Yamato to the bottom. The box art depicts the type's combat debut: VB-17 from USS Bunker Hill striking Rabaul on 11 November 1943.
