Description
MATPK-114 - Matchbox 1/72 BAC.Lightning - WWHP119248
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Lightning was the RAF's only all-British supersonic fighter, a twin-stacked-Avon interceptor famous for its raw climb performance. The box art and decals tie to Exercise Bersatu Padu, the August 1970 five-nation exercise where 74 Squadron F.6s flew standing patrols over Singapore and Malaya, refuelled around the clock by Victor tankers.
This is the original 1975 Matchbox Lightning tooling in its first-issue box, made in England by Lesney. It is the same parent tool later adapted into the T55 two-seater, and it builds either the definitive F.6 or the F.2A with its kinked-wing and big-fin combination.
Box contents:
- Parts molded in three colours of plastic with clear canopy
- Optional parts and choice of markings for F.6 or F.2A
- Waterslide decals with two RAF options: F.6 XR773 of No. 74 Squadron, Singapore, August 1970, and F.2A XN772 of No. 92 Squadron, Gütersloh, West Germany, June 1974
- Instruction leaflet with full Colour Plan and Mini-paint plan
