Vallejo Model Color

Complete colour listing · Water-based acrylics for brush painting

The broadest brush-painting range in the Vallejo lineup

Vallejo Model Color is the paint range most scale modellers reach for first — and with good reason. Formulated specifically for brush application, the thin, self-levelling consistency lays down flat, even coats straight from the dropper bottle with no dilution required on most surfaces. The water-based, non-toxic formula cleans up with water, dries quickly to a durable matte finish, and is fully intermixable across the entire range.

Spanning everything from precise RAL and RLM colour matches for WWII armour and aircraft through to figure skin tones, metallics, transparents, and diorama earth tones, Model Color covers military, historical, and civilian subjects at every scale. Each colour in the table below includes notes on its primary real-world application — whether that's a specific vehicle, uniform, national marking, or weathering technique — so you can go from colour chart to workbench with confidence.

All bottles are 17 ml with Vallejo's precision dropper cap, which dispenses paint one drop at a time and keeps the bottle sealed between sessions. Stock at Wheels & Wings rotates regularly; click any SKU to check current availability and add to your basket.

Shopping for Vallejo Model Color at Wheels & Wings

Vallejo Model Color is stocked continuously at our Toronto store and ships across Canada. Individual bottles are available singly so you can fill gaps in your existing collection without committing to a set — useful when a single project calls for one specific RAL or FS match you don't already own. Where a colour appears in multiple SKUs (for example two listings both described as Light Grey or Medium Grey), these reflect distinct shades with different FS cross-references; check the individual product pages for swatch images and FS/RAL equivalency notes before ordering.

If you're building a starter palette from scratch, the most versatile foundation colours to prioritise are a mid-grey (VLJ70987), flat black (VLJ70950), white (VLJ70951), a flesh tone (VLJ70955), flat brown (VLJ70984), and the subject-specific base colours for your chosen era — German Grey (VLJ70995) or Dark Yellow (VLJ70978) for WWII German armour, Olive Drab (VLJ70967) for US subjects, Russian Green (VLJ70894) for Soviet, and Medium Sea Grey (VLJ70870) for RAF aircraft.

For questions about specific colours, cross-references to Humbrol, Tamiya, or AK Interactive, or advice on paint-scheme accuracy for a particular kit, the staff at Wheels & Wings are modellers themselves and happy to help in-store or by phone.
