The Sd.Kfz.8 was Germany's 12-ton heavy half-track. Daimler-Benz built it from 1934, and the DB10 was the main wartime production version. About 4,000 were built, and they towed heavy artillery such as the 8.8cm Flak, the 15cm sFH 18 and the 21cm Mörser 18. Some were given an armoured body to protect the driver and gun crew when towing heavy guns close to the front. These armoured "gepanzerte" versions are among the rarer variants of the Sd.Kfz.8.
