The Sd.Kfz.8 was the twelve tonne member of Germany's half track prime mover family, built by Daimler-Benz from the DB 10 design. Its job was hauling the heavy stuff, the 21 cm Mörser 18, the 15 cm Kanone 18 and the 10.5 cm FlaK 38, with crew seating behind the long bonnet and a winch for recovery work. Roughly 4,000 were built between 1938 and 1945, and they served in Poland, France, the Balkans, Russia, North Africa, Normandy and Italy.
