Description
TKM2085 - Takom - 1/35 M3 Lee Early
The Takom 2085 1/35 M3 Lee Early is a highly detailed plastic model kit of the American M3 Lee medium tank in its early production configuration, representing one of the most distinctive and unusual Allied armored vehicles of World War II. Developed in 1940–41 as a rapid response to the need for a heavily armed medium tank, the M3 Lee featured a unique and unconventional design with a 75mm gun mounted in a side sponson hull, combined with a secondary turret-mounted 37mm gun on top—resulting in its instantly recognizable stepped silhouette.
The M3 Lee saw extensive combat in North Africa and the Pacific, where it provided much-needed firepower during early Allied campaigns before being gradually replaced by the M4 Sherman. Despite its design compromises, it was valued for its strong armor, mechanical reliability, and ability to engage enemy armor at range during a critical phase of the war.
Takom’s kit captures the complex geometry of the early M3 Lee with excellent surface detail, accurate cast and riveted textures, and a highly engineered breakdown of the hull and suspension system. It typically includes link-and-length tracks, a detailed interior fighting compartment, optional open/closed hatches, clear parts, and photo-etched details, making it a rewarding build for WWII armor enthusiasts who enjoy complex and historically significant subjects.
