Description
TAM6427 - Tamiya 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M5c Zero Fighter (Zeke) - WWWEB10115284
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside,
The A6M5c (Type 52 Hei) was one of the final production variants of the legendary Mitsubishi Zero, introduced in 1944 as an attempt to keep pace with increasingly capable US Navy fighters. The earlier A6M5's two 20 mm wing cannon were supplemented by two additional 13.2 mm machine guns in the outer wings, and the existing 7.7 mm nose gun was upgraded to a 13.2 mm weapon — giving the type a total of five guns. Wingtip modifications reduced wingspan to 11 metres. Despite the improvements, the A6M5c remained outclassed by the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair it faced, and the variant served widely through the final year of the war including in kamikaze roles. Tamiya first tooled this kit in 1983 as part of their 1/48 Aircraft Series.
