Description
35047 - Tamiya 1/35 7.5cm Anti-Tank Gun Pak40/L46 - PREOWNED118634
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The 3.7cm Pak the Germans went to war with proved useless against thicker Allied armour in France in 1940, and the 5cm that replaced it was already outmatched by the T-34 and KV-1 by the time Barbarossa began. The answer was the 7.5cm Pak 40, which entered production in 1941 and reached units in quantity through 1942. It could punch through 130mm of vertical armour at 1,000 metres and a good crew could get off up to fourteen rounds a minute. Towed behind an Sd.Kfz.11 or a Hanomag halftrack, or mounted on obsolete chassis to create the Marder series, the Pak 40 remained the backbone of German anti-tank defence to the end of the war.
