The Porsche 911 GT2 was based on the 993-generation 911 Turbo and built from 1995 to homologate Porsche’s GT racing car. It had a twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre flat-six, rear-wheel drive, bolt-on wheel arch extensions and a large rear wing. Customer GT2s raced around the world, including in the BPR Global GT Series, at Le Mans and in the All Japan GT Championship (JGTC). In Japan, Team Take One ran the #30 GT2, driven by Yoji Yamada and Kazuo Mogi and sponsored by the security company Sogo Keibi Hosho (SOK). Its white, red and blue livery, with a large eagle emblem on the bonnet, made it one of the most colourful cars on the JGTC grid. This Tamiya kit captures the #30 SOK Porsche in detail, with gold BBS-style wheels and Bridgestone Potenza tires.
