The Mi-8MT entered series production at the Kazan Helicopter Plant in 1977, pairing the proven Mi-8 airframe with more powerful TV3-117 engines and moving the tail rotor to the left side. Combat experience in Afghanistan made it the plant's main product by the mid-1980s, it made its international debut at the 1981 Paris Air Show under the export name Mi-17, and the Mi-8 family went on to become the most produced helicopter in the world. Russian Project released this limited edition multimedia kit around 2008, one of the few 1/48 Hips available before the later mainstream toolings.
