The Sd.Kfz. 232 (Fu) was the radio-equipped command version of Germany's eight-wheeled heavy armoured car, fitted with Fu.Ger.11 SE 100 and Fu.Spr.Ger. "a" sets for long and short range communication. Its large frame antenna was mounted to the hull on a special joint that still allowed the turret a full 360 degrees of rotation, and the car served from the 1939 Polish campaign through the Eastern Front and North Africa with the Afrika Korps. Production ended in 1943 with the arrival of the Sd.Kfz. 234 series, though survivors fought on until the last days of the war.
