The Lotus 79 was one of the most famous Formula One cars ever built, designed by Colin Chapman's Team Lotus for the 1978 season and the first car to fully exploit ground-effect aerodynamics. Powered by the Ford-Cosworth DFV V8 and nicknamed "Black Beauty" for its sleek black-and-gold John Player Special livery, it dominated 1978: Mario Andretti took the Drivers' World Championship and Lotus won the Constructors' title. This vintage Nitto kit is a motorized "Line Control" version depicting Andretti's number 5 car.
