The Oshkosh M-ATV was designed to give crews the same protection as the larger MRAPs with much better mobility, and was intended to replace the armoured M1114 Humvee. Powered by a 7.2 litre Caterpillar C7 turbo diesel with fully independent suspension and a V-shaped hull to deflect IED blasts, it first deployed to Afghanistan in October 2009. Kinetic released this new-tool kit in 2012 as its first 1/35 armoured vehicle.
