HOBHC1354 - Hobbycraft 1/72 DHC U-1 Otter - PREOWNED10116640
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter was designed as a bigger brother to the Beaver. It first flew at Downsview here in Toronto on December 12, 1951. The Otter could carry up to 10 passengers or more than a tonne of cargo, and it kept the Beaver’s rugged short take-off ability on wheels, floats or skis, making it a workhorse of the North. The RCAF flew Otters for search and rescue and utility work, often in natural metal with high-visibility orange trim and “RESCUE” titles. The U.S. Army became the largest Otter operator, buying 184 as the U-1A, and the U.S. Navy flew them as the UC-1, later U-1B, including in Antarctica. This Hobbycraft kit builds either a Canadian or a U.S. Otter, on wheels or on floats.

- Decals for Canadian and U.S. utility Otters, including the RCAF Rescue Otter 3689 shown on the box art
