The Lotus 99T is one of the more significant cars of Senna's early career. In 1987 it was the first F1 car to race with active suspension — a system so complex it needed a dedicated engineer just to manage it — and Senna wrung everything out of it, winning at Monaco and Detroit against more powerful machinery. It wasn't a championship-winning car, but it showcased exactly what Senna could do with an underdog package, and the yellow Camel livery is one of the most iconic of the turbo era.
