Description
HASCC005 (22005) - Hasegawa Minolta Toyota 88c Le Mans - WWHP111521
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Toyota 88C was Toyota's inaugural factory Group C effort, developed by Tom's and powered by a turbocharged 2.1-litre 3S-GT inline-four producing around 680 hp. At the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans — one of the most competitive Group C fields ever assembled — Toyota Team Tom's entered two 88Cs. The Minolta-liveried #36, driven by Geoff Lees, Masanori Sekiya, and Kaoru Hoshino, finished 12th overall, a creditable result against works Porsche 962s, Jaguar XJR-9s, and Mercedes Sauber C9s. It was Toyota's best Le Mans finish to that point.
Kit 22005 (CC-5) is the Le Mans-specification boxing of Hasegawa's 1/24 88C tooling, introduced in 1988 with a revised parts complement to capture the four-headlight Le Mans nose configuration. It is a curbside kit with no engine or suspension detail. All plastic parts are moulded in white.
Box Contents:
- Plastic sprues (body, chassis, and detail parts — moulded white)
- Rubber tires (×4)
- Waterslide decal sheet
Markings included:
- #36 — Toyota Team Tom's / Minolta | G. Lees / M. Sekiya / K. Hoshino | 24 Hours Le Mans, June 1988 | 12th overall | White/Blue
