HASC009 - Hasegawa 1/72 B.A.C.F.Mk-6 Lightning RAF Fighter - WWHP113719
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The English Electric Lightning, built by BAC after the 1960 aircraft industry mergers, was Britain's only all-British Mach 2 fighter. It was designed as a point-defence interceptor to protect V-bomber bases. Its two Rolls-Royce Avon engines were stacked one above the other in the fuselage, which gave it a famously fast climb rate. The F.6 was the final RAF version, with a larger ventral fuel tank and provision for jettisonable overwing ferry tanks to extend its short range. No. 56 Squadron, the "Firebirds", flew F.6s with the squadron's phoenix tail badge and red and white checkerboard markings. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia bought export versions.
- Parts moulded in light grey, plus clear canopy
- Overwing ferry tanks and ventral tank
- Waterslide decals for two aircraft:
- RAF No. 56 Squadron F.6 XR759 "P", with phoenix tail badge and red and white checkerboard bars
- Kuwaiti Air Force option, with national roundels and flag
- Stencil and warning decals
- Instruction sheet with marking and colour painting guide
