The De Tomaso Pantera paired Italian styling with a mid-mounted Ford V8, and the GT5 version of the early 1980s added wide fibreglass wheel arch flares, a deep front spoiler and larger wheels inspired by the Group 5 racing Panteras. Its 5,763cc OHV V8 produced 270ps, good for a top speed of 275km/h. Gunze Sangyo issued this 1/24 kit in 1984 as No. 9 in its 600 Car Series, and this example carries the original Mikerian Mercantile Ltd. Edmonton importer label.
