Description
GMP12023 - GMP 1/18 1969 McLaren M8B High Wing
McLaren dominated the 1969 Can-Am season with the M8B and won all 11 races. Each car had an aluminium-block 7.0 litre Chevrolet V8 and a tall rear wing mounted directly on the rear suspension uprights. For the new Michigan International Speedway round on 28 September 1969, the team brought a third factory car, and Jack Brabham qualified it. Dan Gurney’s own McLeagle kept breaking down, so his old friend Bruce McLaren handed him the third M8B for the race. That gave Gurney a rare drive in the famous papaya McLaren.
