The McLaren M8B was the dominant machine of the 1969 Can-Am season, so thoroughly that the series was nicknamed the "Bruce and Denny Show." Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme, both New Zealanders, shared all eleven victories between them -- McLaren taking six and Hulme five -- with the M8B's 7.0-litre Chevrolet V8 producing over 600 horsepower proving untouchable by any competitor. Bruce McLaren won the championship that year, the last of his career; he was killed testing the following season's M8D at Goodwood in June 1970.
