This Modern Sea Power Series set pairs two Cold War adversaries. USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640) was the lead boat of her class of US Navy nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, commissioned in the mid-1960s and armed with submarine-launched ballistic missiles. The Soviet Sierra class were titanium-hulled nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs) of the 1980s, built for high speed and deep diving. The set adds a Tu-26M Backfire B bomber and a Ka-27 Helix A helicopter to fill out the scene.
