This Modern Sea Power Series set pairs two Cold War adversaries in the North Pacific. The JMSDF Yushio class were diesel-electric attack submarines introduced by Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force in the late 1970s. The Soviet Delta III class were nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) of the same era, carrying long-range submarine-launched ballistic missiles. The set also includes a P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft and an HSS-2B Sea King helicopter to round out the anti-submarine warfare scene.
