âš” Fellgor Ravagers

Vlad wanted these Fellgor Ravagers (now being released as a 40k kit) done as fast as possible while still maintaining a level of quality. The solution: zenithal highlighting with contrast paints. A simple contrast paint over a light colour will give you a solid tabletop-ready result - but the zenithal does a lot of heavy lifting in taking the minis to the next level without adding hours of painting time per model.

The Zenithal Technique

Prime the model black all over, then spray white primer from directly above - straight down, as if from the sun at noon. The black stays in the recesses, the white catches all the raised surfaces and top planes. When contrast paints are applied over this, they pool dark in the shadows and stay lighter on the highlights automatically. The zenithal does the shading work so you don't have to.
