Vallejo Game Color — Complete Colour Guide for Miniature Painters
Vallejo Game Color
Complete colour listing · Water-based acrylics for miniature and fantasy figure painting
The dedicated miniature painting range from Vallejo
Vallejo Game Color is formulated specifically for painting fantasy miniatures, wargaming figures, and tabletop models. The range covers the full spectrum needed for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40,000, and other game systems — from base coats and highlights through to inks, fluorescents, and special effects. Each colour is optimised for the fine detail and layering work that miniature painting demands, with a consistency that flows smoothly over small surfaces without obscuring detail.
Game Color is fully intermixable across the range and compatible with Vallejo Model Color. The table below includes the closest Citadel (Games Workshop) equivalent for every colour — useful if you're converting from a GW recipe or working from a painting guide written for Citadel paints. Each entry also notes the primary Warhammer faction and painting application so you can find the right colour for your army quickly.
All bottles are 17 ml with Vallejo's precision dropper cap. Stock at Wheels & Wings rotates regularly; click any SKU to check current availability and add to your basket.
Thinning and mediums for Game Color
Game Color is formulated to brush straight from the dropper bottle and flows well over primed miniatures. For wet blending, glazing, or extended painting sessions, the same Vallejo mediums used with Model Color work equally well.
For brush painting, a drop of Vallejo Thinner Medium (VLJ70524) extends open time for blending and reduces tip drag when working on flat armour panels. For airbrushing, thin with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner (VLJ71161) at roughly 1:1 for base coating and zenithal work. Add a few drops of Airbrush Flow Improver (VLJ71362) to prevent tip dry on fine detail passes.

Shopping for Vallejo Game Color at Wheels & Wings
Vallejo Game Color is stocked continuously at our Toronto store and ships across Canada. The range is designed to work as a complete system — the opaque colours, inks, fluorescents, and Special FX all pair together, and every colour is fully compatible with Vallejo Model Color if you're mixing ranges. Individual bottles are available singly so you can pick up exactly the colours you need for a specific army or project without committing to a full set.
If you're new to Game Color and building a starter palette, the most versatile foundation colours are Black (VLJ72051), Chainmail (VLJ72053), a mid-skin tone (VLJ72099), Goblin Green (VLJ72030), Ultramarine Blue (VLJ72022), and Gory Red (VLJ72011) — plus Black Ink (VLJ72094) and Sepia Ink (VLJ72091) for shading. From there you can expand by army colour scheme using the Citadel equivalent column to cross-reference any painting guide written for GW paints.
