Ford introduced the Explorer in 1990 as a four-door replacement for the Bronco II, and it quickly became one of the best-selling SUVs in North America. It helped launch the 1990s sport utility boom. The second generation arrived for 1995 with a smoother restyled front end, independent front suspension and a more car-like interior. The top Limited model added colour-keyed trim, lower body cladding and lattice-style alloy wheels. This AMT/Ertl kit builds the 1996 Explorer 4x4 Limited, as shown in blue on the box.
