The McDonnell F2H Banshee was a twin-engined carrier-based jet fighter that served with the US Navy and Marine Corps from 1948 through the mid-1960s. It saw extensive combat during the Korean War, operating from carriers including USS Essex in fleet air defence and ground attack roles. Canada's Royal Canadian Navy also operated the type, making the Banshee the only jet fighter ever flown by the RCN.
