The Buccaneer began life as the Blackburn NA.39, a carrier based strike aircraft that first flew in 1958 and entered Royal Navy service as the S.1 in 1962. The more powerful Spey engined S.2 followed, and after the Navy retired its carriers the type served with the RAF from 1969 in the low level strike role, flying operationally in the 1991 Gulf War before retirement in 1994. This tooling dates from 1989.
