Description
WNW32070 - Wingnut Wings 1/32 Sopwith F.1 Camel 'BR.1' - WWHP113735
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Sopwith Camel got its name from the hump over its twin Vickers guns, and it shot down more enemy aircraft than any other Allied fighter of the First World War. It entered service in mid-1917, and its rotary engine, short body and forward centre of gravity made it extremely agile but unforgiving for new pilots. The Royal Naval Air Service preferred the 150 hp BR.1, a rotary engine designed by W.O. Bentley that was more powerful and reliable than the Clerget and Le Rhône engines used in RFC Camels. About 5,500 Camels were built, and they flew with British, Canadian, American and other Allied pilots until the end of the war.
- 1/32 injection moulded kit, with parts moulded in grey on multiple sprues
- Detailed Bentley BR.1 rotary engine with an alternate engine sprue, cockpit and twin Vickers guns
- Brass photo-etched fret with seatbelts and detail parts
- Cartograf printed waterslide decals for several RNAS and RAF Camels, including B6390 “Black Maria”, B7275 “PP”, B7190 and F5234, with roundels, rudder stripes, checkerboard and chevron markings, eagle insignia, a circular unit badge and full stencils
- Full-colour instruction booklet with aircraft history, specifications and paint references
