Description
VENV0506 - Ventura 1/72 Supermarine Seafire Mk XV - WWHP113854
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn, No decals
The Seafire Mk XV was the first Griffon-engined Seafire, pairing the 1,850 hp Rolls-Royce Griffon VI with a navalized Spitfire airframe. It arrived just as the Second World War ended and became the Fleet Air Arm’s standard carrier fighter in the immediate postwar years. Late-production aircraft swapped the external “A-frame” arrester hook for a neater “stinger” hook built into an extended tail cone, which this kit models. The Seafire XV also played an important part in Canadian naval aviation. The Royal Canadian Navy flew it as its first carrier fighter with 803 and 883 Squadrons, from HMCS Warrior and later HMCS Magnificent, between 1946 and 1948. This limited-production Ventura collector’s kit from New Zealand is numbered 31 of 600.
