VAL72003 - Valom 1/72 Polikarpov TIS - WWHP111796
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Polikarpov TIS (Tyazhyolyy Istrebitel Soprovozhdeniya, or heavy escort fighter) was an all-metal Soviet twin-engine, two-seat aircraft designed from 1938 to escort medium bombers across their full operational range. The TIS(A) prototype first flew in September 1941 powered by two 1,400 hp Mikulin AM-37 engines, but testing was repeatedly disrupted by the war and the evacuation of Polikarpov's design bureau. This kit represents the later TIS(MA) version, fitted with more powerful AM-39 engines and heavier armament; the type never entered production and only prototypes were built.
