Description
TKM2131 - Takom - 1/35 US Army 1/4 Ton Armoured Truck
The Takom 2131 1/35 US Army 1/4 Ton Armored Truck is a detailed plastic model kit depicting a WWII-era light utility “Jeep” platform modified with field-applied armor protection and a mounted heavy machine gun configuration. Based on the classic 1/4-ton 4×4 utility vehicle used extensively by U.S. forces, this variant represents an improvised armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle developed to give crews limited protection while retaining the Jeep’s legendary mobility.
During WWII, standard Willys MB-type vehicles were frequently adapted in the field with steel armor plates added around the driver compartment, creating a lightly protected reconnaissance platform. These armored conversions were used in roles such as forward scouting, convoy escort, and military police patrols, especially during late-war operations in Europe where small arms threats were common. Some configurations also mounted heavier weapons such as the M2 .50 caliber machine gun, increasing their firepower in close engagements.
Takom’s kit captures this unique battlefield adaptation with sharply molded armor panels, a detailed chassis, and a realistically rendered utility interior. It includes fine surface textures, optional configuration parts, and accessory weapons, making it an excellent subject for WWII dioramas focused on field modifications and frontline improvisation.
