TAMWL.D052 - Tamiya 1/700 Japan Navy Destroyer Hibiki - WWHP113827
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
Hibiki was the second ship of the Akatsuki class, the final group of the Special Type destroyers. She was completed at Maizuru in March 1933. Like her sisters, she had six 12.7 cm guns and nine 61 cm torpedo tubes and could reach 38 knots. During the Pacific War she supported the invasions of Malaya and the Philippines. She was badly damaged by bombs during the Aleutians campaign in 1942, and she escorted carriers and convoys for the rest of the war. Hibiki earned the nickname “the unsinkable” because she was the only ship of her class to survive the war. In 1947 she was handed over to the Soviet Union, where she served as Verniy until the 1960s. This classic Tamiya Water Line Series kit builds Hibiki in her late-war fit, with radar and extra anti-aircraft guns.
