The Junyo was a Hiyo-class aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy, converted from a planned ocean liner hull and commissioned in 1942. She served through several major Pacific actions, including the Aleutians, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and Santa Cruz, surviving the war damaged. As a Waterline Series kit, the model depicts the ship above the waterline for display flat on its base.
