The M8 Greyhound was a six-wheeled American armoured car used in World War II mainly for escort and reconnaissance, valued for its light weight, speed and maneuverability. Developed by Ford from 1942, it carried a 37mm main gun in an open-topped turret and a coaxial machine gun, with over 8,500 produced from 1943. It served widely with U.S. and Allied forces in Europe and the Pacific, and the British coined the "Greyhound" nickname.
