The Avro Lancaster was the aircraft Bomber Command was built around, capable of carrying a heavier load further than anything else the RAF had, and flown by crews from across the Commonwealth including the RCAF squadrons of 6 Group. Over 7,300 were built, and the type flew more than 156,000 sorties before the war ended. The Mk I and Mk III differed mainly in engines, British built Merlins in one and Packard built Merlins in the other, so the two are close enough that Tamiya covers both in a single box. This is Tamiya's 1/48 tooling, 443 mm long with a 648 mm wingspan when finished.
