Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The North American P-51D became the pre-eminent long-range escort fighter of the Second World War, its Packard-built Merlin V-1650 engine and low-drag laminar-flow wing giving it the speed and range to escort Eighth Air Force heavy bombers deep into Germany and back. The D variant's Malcom-style bubble canopy offered unobstructed all-round visibility, and six .50-calibre M2 Browning machine guns provided significant firepower. Eighth Air Force P-51Ds operated from bases in England from mid-1944 onward, typically in natural metal finish with coloured group and squadron markings.
