Description
TAM60774 - Tamiya - 1/72 F4U-1 Bird Cage Corsair - WWHP113297
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Vought F4U Corsair paired the biggest engine and the biggest propeller available with an inverted gull wing that kept the blade tips clear of the deck, and the result was the fastest US Navy fighter of its day. The original F4U-1 is known to modellers as the Bird Cage for its heavily framed sliding canopy, with the cockpit set well aft behind a long nose. Carrier qualification took time, so the early Corsairs went to war from land bases with the US Marines in the Solomons from early 1943, where pilots like Kenneth Walsh of VMF-124 built formidable scores against Japanese fighters.

- Illustrated instructions with painting and decal placement guide
