The F4U Corsair's inverted gull wing came from fitting the biggest propeller yet used on a fighter while keeping the undercarriage short, and it made the aircraft instantly recognisable. The F4U-1D arrived in late 1944 with the frameless bubble canopy and underwing rails for rockets and drop tanks, turning the fighter into a formidable ground attack machine.

This is Tamiya kit 60752, War Bird Collection No.52, first tooled in 2000. Crisp fine detail throughout with two canopy parts, eight rockets, two 175 gallon drop tanks, and three marking options. Finished model is 141mm long with a 173mm span.
