The Zeltbahn was the standard German military shelter quarter — a rubberised triangular poncho that could be combined with others to form field tents. In North Africa, Wehrmacht forces used standard-issue field equipment including the Zeltbahn throughout the DAK campaigns from 1941–43, improvising shade and shelter against the desert heat. This set depicts a typical DAK field bivouac with tent and a seated communications soldier.
