Description
TAM24188 - Tamiya 1/24 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA - WWHP113864
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
Bertone’s young Giorgetto Giugiaro styled the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT, one of the most elegant small coupes of the 1960s. In 1965 Alfa Romeo built a racing version, the Giulia Sprint GTA. The “A” stood for “Alleggerita”, or “lightened”, because its outer body panels were made of aluminum instead of steel. The GTA used a twin-plug 1.6-litre twin-cam four-cylinder engine, and in race trim from Alfa’s competition department, Autodelta, it made well over 150 hp. The GTA dominated its class in touring car racing, winning the European Touring Car Championship in 1966, 1967 and 1968. The green four-leaf clover, or Quadrifoglio, on its flanks became a symbol of Alfa Romeo performance. This Tamiya kit builds a road-going GTA in classic red, with “817622 MI” Milan plates.
