The F189, known internally as the 640, marked Ferrari's return to normally aspirated power with a 3.5 litre V12 and introduced the semi-automatic paddle-shift gearbox that every Formula One car would eventually adopt. John Barnard's slim, curved body was as beautiful as anything on the grid, though early reliability was poor. This boxing covers the late-season aerodynamic configuration as run at Estoril, car 27 in the hands of Nigel Mansell. Grand Prix Collection No. 24.
