Description
Takom 1/35 Panzerjager G13 - Switzerland's post-war Hetzer
The Takom 2177 1/35 Pzj G13 is a highly detailed plastic model kit of the Swiss post-war Panzerjäger G13 tank destroyer, a licensed service version of the German WWII Jagdpanzer 38(t) “Hetzer”. After the end of WWII, Switzerland purchased and operated refurbished Czech-built Hetzers, redesignated as the G13, and fitted them with the 7.5 cm StuK 40 gun, often featuring a muzzle brake and other post-war modifications that distinguished them from wartime German production vehicles.
This compact, low-profile tank destroyer is known for its sloped armor, efficient design, and excellent battlefield concealment characteristics, making it one of the most successful light tank destroyer layouts of the war era—and one that continued in service long after 1945 in Swiss hands. Takom’s kit captures both the original German engineering and the subtle Swiss post-war refinements, resulting in a clean and highly detailed representation of this rare Cold War-era service vehicle.
Takom’s engineering is sharp and precise, typically featuring fine surface detail, a fully detailed hull and fighting compartment, link-and-length tracks, optional open/closed hatches, and photo-etched parts for added realism. The kit is especially appealing to modelers interested in lesser-known Cold War operators and extended-service WWII designs.
